Just Friends
Starring Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart, this rom-com will send you right back to the 2000’s. Ryan Reynolds plays Chris Brander, a formerly overweight nerd who is now a handsome, successful, womanizing record producer. Still, he’s never got over his crush on his high school best friend, Jamie (Smart). After an accident lands Chris and his pop star client (Anna Faris) near his hometown, Chris and Jamie are reunited once more.
Sunrise in Heaven
If you need a cathartic cry, this sweet and sad romance movie about Jan Hurst’s real life is for you. Based on the romance novel His Sunrise My Sunset, the film follows Jan, the daughter of an overly protective military father. She still falls in love with a military man herself, and the couple needs to win over Jan’s father so they can be married. Later, a tragic car accident leaves Jan;s husband on life support, leaving Jan to remember the early days of their relationship.
Love Wedding Repeat
You’ll have to wait until April 10th for this Netflix original. Starring Sam Claflin and Olivia Munn, this new rom-com has fun with time: think Groundhog Day, but with a wedding. Jack lives his sister’s wedding day over and over again, dealing with difficult guests and, if he’s lucky, potential romance.
A Secret Love
This documentary delves into the relationship between pro baseball player Terry Donahue (who was among the women who inspired A League of Their Own) and her partner, Pat Henschel. The two women have been together for more than seven decades— and though they came out to their Orthodox family members, they kept their relationship a secret. Terry and Pat are now 92 and 89, respectively. And they are about to share their love story with the world.
