We live in highly divided times and the idea of finding love across the aisle or in the midst of the swamp of Washington D.C. sounds positively nightmarish for many of us. It might be a greater fantasy than dragons and time travel!
But these eight authors found a way to blend romance, politics, and a hell of a lot of drama.

Sammy's Hill
Who better to write a political romance than the daughter of former Vice President Al Gore? Samantha "Sammy" Joyce is a 26-year-old healthcare analyst for Senator Robert Gary of Ohio. It's a workaholic life that leaves her with no time for romance.
But in the midst of lobbying and business chats, Sammy meets Aaron Driver. He's hot, smart, and seems to adore her. Maybe he's the guy to bring some much-needed heat to her never-ending cycle of 70-hour work weeks and political drama. That or he's an even bigger nightmare waiting to combust. There's never a dull day in D.C.

The State of Us
Dean Arnault doesn't like the public eye, which is a problem when your mother decides to run for President on the Republican ticket. Dre Rosario knows how he feels. He's the son of the Democratic nominee. As they share their troubles away from the cameras, their meet-ups become romantic.
But how can their love blossom when they're on opposite sides of the political spectrum and opponents in the biggest election of their generation? With a shady third-party candidate eager to dig up dirt on the teens, Dean and Dre must fight for what matters.

Bedmates
Maddie McGuire is rather mistake-prone, which is a problem when you're the daughter of the President of the United States. But her latest screw-up has landed her in police custody. Agreeing to do community service as penance and to restore her tattered reputation, Maddie is saddled with an unexpected guide: Jake Simmon, the son of the Vice President.
Recently returned from Afghanistan with a life-altering injury, Jake has a lot on his plate and no interest in dealing with Maddie's nonsense. They're polar opposites and doomed to fight, but there is a thin line between love and hate, and maybe those heated fights can give way to something far hotter.

Red Blooded
Peyton Arthur is a college freshman who's tagging along with her mother on the political trail as she campaigns to be the next Vice President of the United States. Mostly, it means Dylan's sticking to the sidelines and hanging around in hotels, but when a reporter asks a cruel question about her late father and her paternity, things go haywire.
Campaign intern Dylan is drafted to help keep an eye on Peyton. As the media demands more Peyton, she and Dylan decide to give them a distraction with a fake romance. As they work together to investigate the rumors about her real father, the entire campaign risks falling apart. Peyton's past is on the line, and so is her heart.

Smoke and Mirrors
Young Erin Hartsock arrives in Washington D.C. with her heart in her sleeve and big dreams for her future. When she’s offered a position on a congresswoman’s campaign for the Senate, she’s more than happy to flee her dead-end job to take on what she expects will be a humdrum cycle of phone calls and paper-pushing. But as the campaign heats up, things get dark. People start dying. Violent attacks leave everyone terrified.
Someone in the campaign isn't who they say they are, and suspicions are falling onto the newest hire: Erin. She must uncover the truth before she's the next victim.

Flirting with Scandal
Jackie Gardner's whole life is one big secret. The illegitimate daughter of one of the most influential senators in Washington, D.C., she grew up in the shadows of power, listening to the most influential people in the country making dirty deals. Now, she's landed an internship with a powerful political consulting firm and wants to be at the forefront of D.C. on her own terms.
William Andrew Clayton is campaigning for the Virginia State Senate at the age of 26. He knows that the perfect political spouse can help him secure his own future. When Jackie meets Will, sparks soon fly, but a steamy fling with a political candidate could cost Jackie her career and kill Will's campaign. They must decide if love or success is what truly matters.

Off the Record
On her first major reporting assignment for her North Carolina college newspaper, Liz Dougherty gets the chance to question Brady Maxwell. The state senator and heir to a major political dynasty is used to the easy life, so when Liz's hard-hitting question catches him off-guard, he's both shaken and impressed.
Liz's editor thinks she's ready to climb up the career ladder of political journalism. The last thing she needs to do is fall into Brady’s bed and begin a secret romance that could put both of their careers at risk. But the gorgeous and highly ambitious Brady is tough to resist.

Various States of Undress: Carolina
Carolina Fulton, the daughter of the U.S. President, hates being in the spotlight. When she dumps her cheating fiancé, she knows she needs a break from life in D.C. and all the reporters desperate for dirt. So, she flees to her family's cozy cabin in Wyoming for some alone time. Unfortunately, tagging along for the holiday is a Secret Service agent who must shadow her every move.
Elite agent Jake Baxter must put his life on the line to protect Caroline, should the occasion demand it, but that seems a hell of a lot easier than admitting that, alone together in the woods, they're insanely attracted to one another. Yet, with a blizzard raging outside their cabin, turning up the heat is crucial…
