A film adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel, Dear John is the heart-wrenching love story between John Tyree, an Army Special Operations soldier, and young college student Savannah Curtis. While home on two weeks leave, John heroically jumps into the ocean after Savannah’s purse has fallen off of the pier, and the two begin to fall in love before she must return to school and he must return to duty. While this seems all too quick, John and Savannah form a true and genuine connection. In a short amount of time, Savannah notices and makes John aware of his father’s autistic behaviors, something he had never realized. And although the suggestion offends him at first, he realizes that her observations were correct, and appreciates her sensitivity to those around her.

At the end of the two weeks, they make plans to be together, each full of promise and hope. John vows that at the end of the final 12 months of his tour, he will not re-enlist and they can get married. Of course, things are not this simple. After the tragedy of 9/11, John struggles between the promise he has made to Savannah and the promise he made to his country. When you sit down to watch this heart-rendering Nicholas Sparks classic, make sure you grab your box of tissues because the ending will have you feeling all the feels!

10 Years is an ensemble romantic-comedy following a group of friends on the night of their high school reunion 10 years after they’ve graduated. Jake, played by Channing Tatum, loves his girlfriend Jess, but is completely unsure of when or if to propose. Suddenly, back at highschool, Jake is reunited with his highschool sweetheart Mary, and is more unsure than ever about his feelings for both women.  The movie also includes the individual dilemmas of each of his friends, and gives you a healthy balance of bitterness and hopefulness overall.

This 2012 rom-com, co-produced by Channing Tatum himself, will have you laughing-crying, getting second-hand embarrassment from awkward reunions, and wishing you were in a Channing Tatum love-triangle all at once.

Go back and grab that box of tissues again, because The Vow  is another Channing Tatum romance with tragic twists that will absolutely break your heart. Leo, played by Channing Tatum, and his wife of four years, Paige, are a young Chicago couple who you will immediately fall in love with, because they are so in love with each other. Paige, played by Rachel McAdams (from The Notebook…hello!), has dropped out of Northwestern law school to enroll in an art institute and become a full-time artist. Completely in support of her dreams, her husband Leo is a creative himself, who owns a recording studio he has really high hopes for.

On their way back from a glowing date-night in the city, the couple gets rear-ended by a truck and suffer a horrible accident. While Leo walks away with simple cuts and bruises, Paige was not wearing her seat belt, and was launched through the windshield of the car, resulting in a massive brain injury.  Once she wakes up from her medically induced coma, she has no memory of Leo or of their happy marriage of four years.

Before the accident, Paige was estranged from her parents due to their disapproval of her marriage and career choices. However, when the accident occurs, her parents take advantage of her memory loss, and charm her into coming back to live with them. As you can imagine, Leo is completely devastated, heartbroken by his wife’s sudden amnesia, and must fight tirelessly to make her remember and fight their love. Also, the film is based on true events so, like I said,  go grab that tissue box!

She's The Man

This rom-com follows Viola, captain of the Cornwall High women’s soccer team and her twin brother Sebastian, who is about to transfer into the Illyria Preparatory School for soccer. They each find themselves at a crossroads when Sebastian accidentally books his band for a two week gig in London right as he is supposed to transfer in, and Viola’s school suddenly cuts the women’s soccer team due to funding. Viola is not allowed to join the men's team, and is laughed at for thinking herself capable of playing with the guys.  Similarly, Sebastian does not want to give up the opportunity to play in London.

Soon enough, Viola comes up with the perfect solution for both of their problems: As twins, they agree that Viola should disguise herself as Sebastian, taking his place as a new student at Illyria Prep for two weeks. This allows Viola to play soccer, get back at her old school as Illyria’s rival soccer team, and also gives Sebastian the chance to be in two places at once, so to speak. What Viola doesn't plan for, however, are all of the complications of pretending to be a man. She also doesn’t expect to completely fall for her brother’s hot roommate and Illyria’s star soccer player, Duke Orsino, played by (yes….you guessed it!!) Channing Tatum.

Step Up, one of the most iconic dance movies of every gen-zers childhood, follows Tyler Gage, a troubled high school student, played by Channing Tatum, who has been sentenced to 200 hours of community service at the Maryland School of Arts after getting caught vandalizing the school property with graffiti.

Mopping the floors of a dance studio, Tyler encounters Nora Clark, played by Jenna Dewan, a hard working ballet student during her class, and they immediately catch each other’s eyes. They continue to sheepishly watch each other from afar, and one day Nora sees Tyler break dancing in the school parking lot.

Soon after, Nora’s dance partner sprains his ankle, and she struggles to find another dance partner who can do the routines successfully. Finally, Tyler musters up the courage to volunteer himself to fill in for Nora’s previous partner, but Nora needs little convincing. The two begin to rehearse, and the sparks soon fly. And they were definitely flying in real life too—though they divorced in 2019, Tatum and Dewan did get married in 2009, just three years after the filming of this movie!
