As the quarantine continues, we’re extra thankful for our streaming services—especially all the new romance movies on Netflix. This month is bringing us three new promising romantic comedies perfect for virtual dates or streaming parties. Watch them for yourself and let us know whether you think they deserve a spot on our list of the best Netflix romance movies!
The Half of It
This queer, modern twist on Cyrano de Bergerac follows Ellie Chu, a shy, smart high schooler who makes side cash writing papers for her classmates. This leads to the lovesick school jock asking for her help in writing love letters to Aster Flores—who Ellie is also in love with. A beautiful coming of age dramedy, this film already has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Just Go With It
This 2011 Adam Sandler rom-com got less-than-stellar reviews, but if you ask us, that’s all the more reason to make it your next streaming party movie. The intricate plot centers around Danny (Sandler) getting caught in a lie by his new love interest, Palmer (Brooklyn Decker). To cover, Danny asks his best friend Katherine (Jennifer Aniston) to pretend to be his soon-to-be-ex-wife. But as the lies grow more and more complicated, so do Danny’s feelings.
The Lovebirds
If this movie is half as good as Kumail Nanjiani’s previous romantic film, The Big Sick, we’re in for an excellent time. The much-lighter movie follows an on-the-rocks couple (Nanjiani and Issa Rae) after they’ve suddenly become caught up in a murder mystery. Now they need to work together to clear their names—and hopefully save their relationship, too.
