BookTok had already fallen hard for hockey, but the TV adaptation of Rachel Reid’s Heated Rivalry, released last year, introduced a new glut of readers to the delights of sports romance. This Summer, Amazon’s Off-Campus has brought further attention to the genre, with its steamy and highly emotional tale of college life, a sorta-fake romance, and oh so much spice.
The series is based on the books of Elle Kennedy, another big name in hockey romance and one of the pioneering voices in what became known as New Adult fiction. If you’ve finished the show and are hungry for more like it, do not fear, for there are lots of options available! We’ve narrowed it down to eight, to keep you busy over the long hot summer!

The Hurricane
Emily McCarthy is a brilliant mathematician, but her private life is a mess. Struggling with her trauma from a dark past, she's focused on making ends meet so she can finish her degree. Through an unlikely friendship with the aging, cantankerous owner of an old boxing gym, Em ends up coming face to face with Cormac “the Hurricane” O’Connell.
He's a legendary fighter, a man whose hands are lethal weapons, and the moment he lays eyes on Em, he knows he's screwed. He has to have her, but she doesn't want anything to do with him. Can the bad boy change his ways for the good girl who's stolen his heart?

Feels Like the First Time
Ali Marshal has had a crush on Bradley Hawk, the former NHL star, for years. He's gorgeous, sweet, and caring. But he's also her sister Bridget's ex-husband, so he is 100% off limits. Ali needs a date to an engagement party for Bridget and her new beau, and a little white lie has landed her in serious hot water.
Hawk finds himself in a fake romance with his ex-sister-in-law. It's just one date, one false show to keep up appearances. But the kisses sure feel real.

One More Shot
Jordan Garrison and Jessie Caplan grew up together. Everyone knew Jordan was headed for fame, and when he was drafted by the NHL at the age of 18, he was determined to bring Jessie along with him. They shared one amazing night together, then everything fell apart. Six years later, the death of Jessie's grandmother brings both her and Jordan back to Silver Bay.
They haven't spoken since that night, and Jessie can't tell if she loves him or hates him. For Jordan, he knows he can't blow this second chance at love with the woman he's adored for his entire life.

Mile High (Windy City Series Book 1)
Evan Zanders is the face of hockey in Chicago, and its biggest villain. Fans love to hate him, and he's happy to play up that role on the ice, even if it means spending most of his time in the penalty box. It's made him a big hit with the ladies, but not Stevie Shay. She's a flight attendant who's been forced to deal with hockey bros for years, and she'd rather leap out of the plane without a parachute than put up with Evan's nonsense.
But with each flight across the country, the more she sees the real man beneath the arrogant persona. Still, he's off-limits. She won't hook up with another athlete, not after last time. Evan, though, has always loved a challenge…

Consider Me (Playing For Keeps Book 1)
Carter Beckett is one of the NHL's top players, and a notorious enfant terrible both on and off the ice. And boy, doesn't he know it? He's a playboy who could have any woman he desired, but then he meets Olivia Parker, and for some reason, she is completely immune to his charm. That only makes her more enticing. The more he interacts with her, the more she lets her guard down, and the less he seems like an arrogant jerk.
But Olivia's got a lot of baggage, and taking the leap to trust Carter is a tough one. Is she ready to give in to her emotions for once and consider a future with Carter?

Him
Elle Kennedy's M/M hockey romance series co-written with Sarina Bowen is another BookTok favorite! Four years ago, Ryan Wesley ditched his best friend, Jamie Canning, after a drunken encounter at hockey camp. Jamie's never been able to figure out why Ryan ghosted him. It was just a bit of fun, no harm done.
Now, the men are reuniting as their college hockey teams are set to face off at the national championship. Jamie's desperate for answers, and a chance to see the guy who he's never been able to stop thinking about. There's so much the men are eager to discover about one another.

Shots on Net
Carter Morgan III hates everything about South Carolina University except for the hockey team, where he's the starting net-minder and a big shot on campus. With his college career about to conclude and the chances of a life in the NHL looking slim, he's unsure of his future. But first, he needs a new roommate. Zeke Cassidy needs a place to live, but sharing a roof with Carter seems out of the question.
They're polar opposites and his aloof reputation is well known across campus. But unexpectedly, the pair hit it off. Carter knows Zeke isn’t interested in being anything beyond friends and roommates, and yet he cannot help but yearn for something more. What if this is his future: a life with his gorgeous roommate?

The Shots You Take
Of course we have to include a Rachel Reid book. Without her, hockey romance wouldn’t be the titan it is today. Her latest novel is a classic slice of second-chance romance that will delight fans of Heated Rivalry and Off-Campus alike. Riley Tuck moved back to his hometown of Avery River, Nova Scotia, after his major league hockey career came to an end. He was ready for the next act of his life, and a chance to get over his broken heart.
But then Adam Sheppard rolled back into town. The men were once best friends, teammates, and occasional lovers. But things ended badly, leaving both men in pieces. The chemistry is still there, but there are many obstacles in their way before Adam and Riley can reconcile and find out if they have a future together.
